SAINTS GRACE PODIUM IN NATIONAL AQUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014

Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club occupied the three males podium places in the inaugural National Aquathlon Championships organised by the Malta Triathlon Federation on Wednesday 17 September. National triathlon champion Keith Galea added another laurel to his magnificent season, with another irresistible performance. He was followed by the ever improving David Agius Lia in second place, closely followed by team-mate Graham Borg. The Saints literally left the field in their wake with a wide gap on the remainder.

Galea clocked 34 minutes 40 seconds, running the first 2.5 kilometres in 9 minutes, 29 seconds, swimming the 1 kilometre in 19 minutes, 30 seconds, and finishing off the aquathlon with a 12 minutes, 59 seconds 2.5-kilometre second run.  The ensuing Saints however, were battling ...



WAYNE SPITERI WINS GARMIN BBB BSJ INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL SERIES 2014

Birkirkara St. Joseph’s Wayne Spiteri won the inaugural cycling Individual Time Trial Series organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club and sponsored by Garmin and BBB. The Birkirkara cyclist, making his debut in the local cycling scene this year, was unbeaten in the three races of the series. Steve Sciberras, another Birkirkara St Joseph cyclist, finished second overall, with Mark Bonnici of Agones finishing third.

FESTINA BSJ (MALTA)-GOZO-MALTA OPEN WATER SWIMMING COMPETITIONS 2014

The open water swimming season came to a spectacular end with the channel swims organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club and sponsored by Festina Watches. A flotilla took over the stretch of sea between the islands, as boats escorted 92 swimmers racing towards the finishing buoy at Marfa. The prevailing swell near the island of Comino, hampered all swimmers from achieving their pre-set timings. However only two swimmers did not finish the race.
