AN ALL BLACK AND YELLOW PODIUM AS GALEA DOMINATES SMART CITY TRIATHLON

Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club filled the entire podium as the Malta Triathlon Federation kicked-off the 2014 multisport season with a highly charged, drama-filled triathlon race on Sunday 30th March on the Kalkara circuit. The race started with a 1,500-metre swim in the rather cold waters of Rinella Bay, followed by a 39-kilometre very technical and challenging bike segment, and rounding up with a tough 10-kilometre run which finished in the spectacular laguna at Smart City Malta.

WAYNE SPITERI HITS IT HIGH FOR BIRKIRKARA ST JOSEPH IN THE CYCLING TOUR TA’ MALTA 2014

The twentieth edition of the cycling Tour ta’ Malta reaped satisfactory results for Birkirkara St. Joseph with the highlight achieved as Wayne Spiteri grabbed a podium place in the fourth and final stage of the tour. In the first stage at Mellieha, Spiteri was leading the Maltese contingent by placing sixth in the overall classification.

DERMOT GALEA WINNER OF THE NATIONAL PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

Birkirkara St. Joseph’s Dermot Galea is the winner of the National People’s Choice Award in the finals of Gieh l-Isport Malti 2014 held this evening at the Golden Sands Radisson SAS. His nomination followed his historic qualification for, and his performance in, the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii last year, the first Maltese triathlete to achieve such a qualification.
