 On a brilliant December morning, and in perfect conditions for racing, Charles Cilia and French triathlete Jeanne Collange won the fourth and final race in the 2009 Edition of the Birkirkara St. Joseph 5K Road Running Series. This race, which was held on the Mtarfa By-Pass, brought to a successful end a calendar of 15 events organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club during 2009.
Cilia won the race in 15 minutes 51 seconds, his personal best this season, ahead of second placed Gerald Grech who finished in 16 minutes 29 seconds. Johann Galea clocked 17 minutes to finish third.
With Female Series leader Joelle Cortis taking part in an international event abroad, second placed Angela Sammut was first Maltese in this category in 19 minutes 16 seconds, followed by Carmen Hili in 19 minutes 30 seconds. However the race was won by visiting French triathlete Jeanne Collange who clocked 18 minutes 53 seconds.
Charles Cilia and Angela Sammut are the overall winners of the Series.
