THIRD RACE OF THE POWERBAR OPEN WATER SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT TAX-XAMA', ST. PAUL'S BAY

Swimmers can register on the day of the race, but not later than half an hour before the start.  All swimmers must use a cap during these races, which should not be of a dark colour or blue.  Swimmers may use wetsuits of any kind, however, those using such wetsuits, although they will have their finish time recorded, they will not be eligible to be included in the championships classifications.

Swimmers who have already participated in any one of the first two races do not need to fill in any forms, but will be requested to give their names and race numbers at the registration table.  Swimmers under the age of 14 years will pay half the regular entry fee.

The Club’s Swimming Board has decided that, due to the large number of swimmers taking part in these championships, the start of future races will be staggered in two waves.  For this reason, all swimmers will be asked to leave the water five minutes before the start of the race, and are to re-enter only when their names or race numbers are called.  The first 40 swimmers in the first two races will make up the first wave to start.  The rest of the swimmers will make up the second wave and will start three minutes later.  Swimmers 14 years of age or under, who qualify to start in the first wave, may opt to start in the second wave.  Finishing times in the final classification will be adjusted accordingly.

A Local Notice to Mariners with reference number 39 of 2012, has been issued by the Ports and Yachting Directorate of Transport Malta, wherein sea crafts are to navigate well clear of the race route during the event.
