BIRKIRKARA ST JOSEPH TEAMS UP WITH THE HEALTH PROMOTION & DISEASE PREVENTION DIRECTORATE IN A DRIVE TO PROMOTE THE BENEFITS OF EXERCISING.

Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club, through their Festina The Cyclist 5K Road Running Series 2013, have teamed up with the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate within the Ministry for Health, in a drive to promote the benefits of exercising. During the Road Running Series, a fun run and a walk will be organised aimed at suiting all ages and all levels of fitness.

Persons taking part in these 5-kilometre fun runs and walks will be given their finishing times in order for them to gauge their level of fitness throughout the whole series. There will be no entry fees for both the fun runs and the walks. Participants will have to fill an entry f...



JOHANNA CALLEJA FIRST FEMALE AT PEMBROKE

Birkirkara St. Joseph’s Johanna Calleja was the first female to cross the finish line at the Pembroke-Swieqi 10-kilometre road race held on Sunday 14 April. The Saint led the race from the start, to finish the hilly route unchallenged in a time of 45 minutes 3 seconds - approximately 30 seconds ahead of second placed Corinne Degaetano.

Calleja is undergoing preparations for the forthcoming triathlon season.  Besides competing in road races, she took part in the recently held cycling Tour ta’ Malta, and she will be competing in the national cycling championships.  ...
