As a Sports Masseur Therapist my aim is to help athletes to prevent sports injuries in order to achieve their optimum level of training. With the help of modern stretching techniques such as Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), the athlete will increase flexibility in both muscles and joints. Techniques such as Soft Tissue Release (STR) and Connective Tissue Massage (CTM) help to release fluids trapped and releasing adhesions or stickiness in muscle fibres. These techniques are beneficial when an athlete has extremely tender and tight muscles. Sports massage can be part of a warm up for an event and wind down after the event to release tension and lactic acid from the muscles.
